    Dear Maple Learning Community,

It is with great excitement, pride, and commitment, that I join Maple as your new principal. I am honored to lead the Maple community which is known for its vibrant diversity, and caring, skillful staff, who hold high expectations that all students will succeed.

I began my career in education as an elementary school teacher, then a middle school teacher for ten years in Highline Public Schools; where I earned my National Boards Certification. For the past five years, I have been the Literacy Assistant Principal of Asa Mercer International Middle School, where each fall, Maple Monarchs become Mercer Mustangs. I am thrilled to stay connected to the Beacon Hill community, and to reach down to our youngest students to help prepare their pathway for a bright future in middle school and beyond.

I am the proud mother of five children. My three oldest daughters are young adults. Essence graduated from Washington State University, Cieon attends Western Washington University, and Jasmine attends Central Washington University. My youngest children Aiden and London are excited to begin 2nd grade this fall.

As a parent and an educator, I understand that our children are future adults, filled with promise. I understand the importance and power of partnering with families and working together so that every student attains their highest potential.  I believe each child and adult in our learning community has great value and must be treated with respect. I believe our purpose is to grow and get better, and I believe that we are better, together.

My mission is to promote and support the continual improvement of teaching and learning at Maple. My role will be to listen to, learn from, and lead the Maple community; guided by the goals in our Continuous School Improvement Plan. Developing positive and productive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners will be an important part of my ongoing work this year and beyond. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you in the weeks and months ahead.

    In Partnership,

    Christy Bowman-White
    Proud Principal of Maple Elementary
