    Dear Maple Learning Community,

It is with pride, commitment, and a big smile, that I welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year.

When I introduced myself as your new principal this time last year, we never imagined a pandemic. When Covid-19 closed our school doors and changed our lives, it felt like a storm had knocked us off our course, and the waves had knocked us off our feet. It was inspiring to watch our vibrant and caring community lift each other up and rise together to meet each challenge.

Like many of you, my family celebrated milestones this summer that were met with a mix of joy, and uncertainty. My daughter Jasmine graduated from Central Washington University, and my stepdaughter Cieon graduated from Western Washington University. My youngest children are excited to begin third grade at Maple in the fall.

This year, our theme is “Maple Strong” because as we move through some of the most difficult circumstances our learning community has ever faced, we will need to remember who we are. We will need to focus on, build up, and tap into the strength that is already inside us. Individually, and collectively we are enough. We are strong enough, brave enough, and loved enough to meet each challenge we encounter.

As we prepare to begin the 2020-2021 school year “Maple Strong”, please take some time individually, with your child, or as a family to think about each of the statements below. Then, click on the link and share your thoughts with our learning community in our Maple Strong Padlet. Thank you!

    • I am brave
    • I am strong
    • I am loved
    • I am enough
    • We are Maple Strong!

    In Proud Partnership,

    Christy Bowman-White
